There are many forms of transport in Istanbul and the rest of Turkey. Firstly, there are boats large and small the picture on the left above shows the large version which is used mainly to cross the Bosphuros, this is run by the government. The small ones are mainly run by private operators. They have an excellent safety record, as they cross a very busy waterway.
The next forms of transport are for short distance and long distance. In the above picture on left the short distance is rulled by the the mini-bus they are everyware and in every town , village and city.
The latest forms of transport are the tramway system and recently the first leg of a new underground system which has been completed and will be devoloped over the coming period.
