Uludag is located in the South Marmara Region in Uludag National Park. It is 36 km from Bursa, and 150 km from Istanbul. The ski center is a 40-minute drive from Bursa or a 60-minute drive from the airport.
The skiing area of Uludag is 1750 - 2543m high and covered with forests. The duration of skiing is 120 days a year. The most suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 20 March. The average snowfall is 3 m in winter. At the beginning of the season the type of snow is "powdery snow" and at the end of the season the snow characteristic is slightly "slushy."

Ski Center Of Palandoken
Palandöken Mountain (or shortly Palandöken) is a 3,271 meters high. On the road from Erzurum to the summit, there is a ski resort at the locality of mountain called Başköy, 2,100 m. high, and the distance between the station and the city is 4 km.
The ski trail is the longest in Turkey. Because of the quality of the snow (a fine-grained light powder), steepness of slopes, and length of trail, Palandoken is known as the best mountain in Turkey for skilled skiers. The toughest runs are on the backside of the mountain known as the Ejder trail. Due to fog and avalanche risk the Ejder lifts and trails are sometimes closed.Palandöken Mountain is about 2200-3176m altitude and covars the area which is on the south, nort-east, sout-west of city. Mount Palandöken covers area of 72 km in width. Mt. Palandöken, whic is among the foremost and privileged ski-centers in point of winter tourisim and winter sports in Turkey, has conveyed the features of the international main station for winter activities. With this feature, it constitutes the most significant part of the city tourism sector. The south ski run is 8 km. long. The nort ski run is devised for the advanced skiers.
The highest point of Mt. Palandöken is great Ejder, which is 3188 m high. It is possible to ski on Great Ejder (2200-3100m) and possible to reach 3100 m. by chair lift is 3237 m. long and can carry 360 people per hour. It is possible to ski with drawn sledges by horses besides skiing. The available skiing part of Mt. Palandöken is, 6 km. away for the city center and is located on the strait of Erzurum. The facilities situated on Mt. Palandöken are 16 km. from the airport. There are four hotels on the mountain: Polat Renaissance hotel, Dedeman hotel, Dedeman Ski Lodge, and Palan Hotel. Because of the center's closeness to Erzurum, visitors can also stay in hotels in Erzurum, notably two luxury ones. |
